Projects for authorship spatial publications for children by Bachelor and Master graduates of the Department of Book, Illustration, Printed Graphics at the National Academy of Art

The BOOK'N'SPACE exhibition presents graduation projects and mock-ups of authorship, with an alternative spatial form publications for children.
The projects, which are the result of a concept entirely original to the students, combine classical and alternative visual techniques, a creative experiment with spatial forms unusual for books, impactful and emotional messages tailored to the characteristics of children and young people, a psychological game with symbols and meanings, mastery of new technologies, and affirm the place of book art both in everyday life of modern people and the gallery's cultural space.
Within the framework of the task, the work of the teams of lecturers from the department, who worked with the students, was aimed at providing the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of fine drawing and composition, illustration, font and typography, painting and graphic techniques, photography and computer aspects of graphic design, as well as specialised training in the field of spatial construction, computer design, digital graphic techniques.
Design art lovers, who visited the HG Gallery of Iliya Petrov National High School of Fine Arts, will see and experience the book space through the contemporary perspective of young book designers and illustrators from the Department of Book, Illustration, Printed Graphics of the National Academy of Art in Sofia and the Burgas Branch, who have successfully graduated in recent years.

The exhibition is part of the official programme of the European Design Festival 2026, which brings together the best of European communication design in Sofia between 11th and 14th of June. The event is part of the programme of the National Academy of Art to celebrate 130 years since its founding as State School of Drawing in 1896.
