Start of the fifth academic year at the Branch of the National Academy of Art in the city of Burgas

On 19 September 2022, 5:00pm, the fifth academic year at the Branch of the National Academy of Art in Burgas will be opened with an official ceremony – solemn blessing with holy water and handing of student's record books to the first-year students. A music performance by pupils from "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" National School of Music and Stage Art in Burgas will the greeting for the beginning of the academic year. Students and guests of the event can also view the exhibition SEA MONSTERS AND... by Prof. Svetozar Benchev, presenting painting and objects in Atelier Gallery, Magazia 1, floor 2.
 
The Branch of the National Academy of Art in Burgas is a fact by virtue of Decree № 16 of 5th February 2018 of the Council of Ministers. At the Branch, students are trained in: Painting; Printmaking; Book, Illustration, Printed Graphics; Poster and Visual Communication; Fashion, and under the Master's degree programme in Art Therapy. In 2021, a new Master's degree programme in Cultural Heritage of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast was included in the curriculum. It was created by the Department of History of Art exclusively for the Branch of the National Academy of Art. The main focus of the programme is to present and interpret the cultural heritage of the area, with an emphasis on the regional development of cultural tourism.
 
With its ateliers, lecture halls for students, and administrative premises, the Branch of the National Academy of Art occupies areas in the new modern building Magazia 1 (second floor) and the Congress Center, both located in the free-access area of ​​the Port of Burgas.
 
For the establishment of the Burgas Branch and for conducting its activities over the years, the National Academy of Art was assisted and supported by the Municipality of Burgas. The local authorities have reconstructed and remodeled, by using own funds, the ateliers at the branch so that they can meet the technical and teaching requirements, and support the creative projects of the National Academy of Art.
