On 19 March 2026, in the presence of lecturers from the Academy, the Department of Industrial Design will celebrate 130 years since the founding of the National Academy of Art with the anniversary exhibition 60 Years of Design Education at the National Academy of Art at Art Gallery – Dobrich.
The exhibition presents important creative and working moments from the development of the department at the National Academy of Art over the past ten years. Founded in 1964 under the name “Industrial Forms”, it is the first in Bulgaria to train specialists in the area of industrial design.
Visitors can see graduation and end-of-semester projects within the framework of various disciplines studied at the Department of Industrial Design, project visualisations and mock-ups – household and utilitarian objects, furniture and elements of the residential environment, equipment and machines from the production environment, various types of vehicles, utensils, tools, electronics and computing devices, elements and facilities for open spaces in urban and public environment, interior and exterior design projects.
On 19 March, lecturers from the National Academy of Art will introduce students, Graphic Design educational profile, at St. Kliment Ohridski Secondary School in Dobrich to the profession of industrial designer – education, practice and development opportunities. A demonstration "From Idea to Modelling in Design" will be held at Art Gallery – Dobrich, including design sketching of products, 3D modelling and 3D printing, on 20 March, at 11:00 am.
