Child Environment – Exterior MA
Children's playgrounds are outdoor areas where children spend a good part of their childhood in games and entertainment. These sites must be carefully planned and designed to meet the needs of all children, while supporting their social and physical development providing the basis for prevention of health.
The program is designed to provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to all aspects of design, construction and operation of playgrounds and sports facilities.
Students develop a choice of tasks in the following areas:
– Environment and facilities for outdoor games;
– Environment and facilities for children with disabilities;
– Creating facilities for sport and physical activity outdoors.
By designing a specific product students work on functional, aesthetic, technological and design, ergonomics, social, integration, environmental and other problems. Together with this the construction site as a whole is solved, with all landscape, architectural and urban design elements. The design of the equipment on the playground is responsible activity to which is necessary to proceed after accumulating the required minimum of knowledge. Teaching is closely linked with the subjects ‘Space, Color, Design’, ‘Design Specifications’, ‘Applied Graphics’ and others.
The training program gives knowledge about the properties of the design process and creative attitude to solve the problems raised. An important place in the training is given to Bulgarian and European safety standards in facilities for outdoor games. Students collect and analyze extensive information material concerning various aspects of the developed problem of the selected area. Students acquire professional competencies related to developed issues.
Master Degree Program ends with the development and defense of a thesis in the third semester.
