Within 6 April – 8 May 2011 the National Academy of Art hosted the second edition of the International Project TRANSFORM 2011 – a platform for visual art with participation of ten academies and universities for education in arts from Southeast Europe:

The National Academy of Art, organizer of the event in Sofia, reconfirmed once more its potential and role as center for training professional artists in the field of fine and applied arts, design, restoration, digital arts, photography and history and theory of art. |

At 18.00 hrs, on 6 April TRANSFORM 2011- International Students’ Exhibition was officially opened at the second floor, in five Halls of the National Gallery for Foreign Art. Selected works of more than 200 students from ten academies and universities for education in arts from Southeast Europe were displayed. The exposition, which included paintings, sculpture, graphics, multimedia, applied arts, design, digital arts, photography, was warmly applauded by the audience. |
The International Students’ Exhibition was displayed under the auspice of Mrs. Yordanka Fandukova, Mayer of the City of Sofia;
In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science, Ministry of Culture, Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Gallery for Foreign Art;

At the second edition of TRANSFORM 2011 in Sofia for the first time, an award for best young author was launched. Moments of the work of the jury...

The award was bestowed to Alexander Belogaski of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopie – Faculty of Fine Arts
To say welcome to the foreign guests the National Academy of Art organized opening of a retrospective exhibition entitled “Paintings from the Museum Fund at NAA” which took place between 5 – 14 April 2011 at Academia Gallery. The exhibition embraced works which were acquired by the Museum Fund from the beginning of the XXth c. till the end of 30-ties and which were created by the outstanding Bulgarian artists Ivan Murkvicka, Boris Mitov, Ivan Angelov, Nikola Petrov, Nikola Mihailov, Konstantin Shtarkelov, Ivan Milev, Pencho Georgiev, Vladimir Dimitrov - Maistora (the Master), Ilia Beshkov, Stoyan Venev, Georgi Popov - John, etc.
Old Photographs of 20-thies and 30-thies of XX c. were shown along with the works of the first artists – graduates and tutors of the National Academy of Art.
On 7 April within the frame of TRANSFORM 2011 an international conference was held on education in arts and contemporary art.
