Asst. Veliko Marinchevsky, lecturer in Printmaking, carried out a teaching mobility under the Erasmus+ programme in the period from 24th to 28th May 2021 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy (Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze). The mobility took place under the bilateral agreement for Erasmus+ cooperation between the National Academy of Art in Sofia and the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. The cooperation between the two art academies has existed for several years and annually, student, teaching and administrative staff mobilities are realised under the Erasmus+ programme.

During his visit, Asst. Veliko Marinchevsky conducted a course in intaglio graphic techniques - etching and aquatint, which covered the whole process: from pure copper plate, through the possibilities and variety of the mixed techniques and materials, to the print itself, and demonstrated to students from the Italian Academy of Arts printing of  his own work. Afterwards, showing great interest the students participated in a conversation and expositional appraisal of their works. Also, the lecturer from the National Academy of Art had meetings with Claudio Rocca, Director of the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence, and with Prof. Serena Conti, Head of the Department of Graphics and Deputy Director of the Florentine academy, as well as with lecturers on the academic speciality.

An interesting fact is that Konstantin Velichkov, the founder of the National Academy of Art,  studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence from 1886 to 1888. A memorial plaque in his honour can be seen on the second floor of the Academy's building.
