The exhibition is part of the Art in Aid of Art National Platform, which is a project of the IMEON-BALKANS Foundation–non-governmental organisation for public benefit, which has been supporting and promoting Bulgarian art and culture for more than 20 years.
The platform brings together some of the most significant contemporary artists in the field of visual arts in Bulgaria, who donate their paintings to support the future generation of artists. A large part of them are teachers and professors at secondary and higher education art schools in Bulgaria. Among the artists are Prof. Ivaylo Mirchev, Prof. Kiril Bozhkov, PhD, Prof. Zdravka Vassileva, PhD, Prof. Svetozar Benchev, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Pencho Dobrev, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Dimo Kolibarov, Assoc. Prof. Vassil Kolev, PhD, Asst. Prof. Zoran Mishe, PhD, Ch. Asst. Prof. Yulian Stankulov, PhD, Ch. Asst. Prof. Zhivka Marinova, PhD, Asst. Prof. Maria Raycheva, PhD, Asst. Prof. Nikolina Encheva from the National Academy of Art; Prof. Stefan Altakov, PhD, Prof. Laura Dimitrova, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Krassimira Drenska, PhD from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski"; Prof. Vladimir Avramov, PhD, Prof. Martina Karaivanova, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Marieta Konova, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Mario Konov, PhD from St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo; Prof. Dimitar Rashkov from Shumen University "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski", Lyuben Genov, Andrey Yanev, Nikolay Yanakiev, Mariana Marinova, Anatoly Stankulov, Radostin Damaskov, Ivan Yahnadzhiev, and many others.
The the Art in Aid of Art National Platform was created in 2023, based on the idea of Ch. Asst. Prof. Yulian Stankulov, PhD, from the National Academy of Art, and is implemented in partnership with the National Academy of Art, St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo and the Union of Bulgarian Artists. Through the Platform, exhibitions have been displayed in art galleries in Sofia, Burgas, Varna, Sozopol, Sadovo, Haskovo, Peshtera, Bansko, State Cultural Institute “Cultural Centre “The Palace” – Balchik, etc.
So far, 14 young artists have been supported with scholarships, 8 of whom are from the National Academy of Art.
The Christmas charity exhibition Art in Aid of Art is held under the patronage of Prof. Georgi Iankov, Rector of the National Academy of Art. It continues the long-standing tradition of supporting generations of young artists, one of whom was the great Bulgarian artist Vladimir Dimitrov – The Master.
