Creative workshop on making handmade paper at the National Academy of Art – Burgas Branch

In relation to the marking of the 10th anniversary since the establishment of the Master's degree programme in Calligraphy at the Department of Poster and Visual Communication, National Academy of Art, the students from the Academy will have the opportunity to participate in a creative workshop on handmade paper, led by Nedko Nedkov, Director of the Art Gallery in Dobrich. All those interested in the process of creating this type of paper are welcome at the event as listeners.
 
Nedko Nedkov is an artist with multi-year experience in the field of paper art. He leads numerous specialised courses and workshops in many Bulgarian cities – Sofia, Sliven, Veliko Tarnovo, etc.
 
The event is being held in several separate segments, and on Wednesday (23 October 2024), 4:00 pm, Lecture Hall 1 (Magazia 1, Burgas Port Complex) a lecture will be held on the historical and theoretical aspects of paper making. The next day, Thursday (24 October2024), 2:30 pm, Todor Atanasov Printmaking Base in Burgas, students will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the practical aspects of the process and to make their own paper samples under the guidance of the workshop leader.  A short calligraphy course (to be led by Dr. Margarita Doncheva, Calligraphy Studio for Calligraphic Experiments) is also included in the programme, which will take place the next day, and will give the trainees the opportunity to experience one of the many aspects of the handmade paper application as an important element of calligraphy art.
 
The event takes place within the framework of the 2024 Competition for Funding Projects on the Scientific Research and Artistic Activities at the National Academy of Art, and is part of the project "10 Years Since the Establishment of the Master's Programme in Calligraphy at the Department of Poster and Visual Communication".
