RESULTS OF THE COMPETITION HELD UNDER THE NATIONAL PROGRAMME "YOUNG SCIENTISTS AND POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS – 2" 2024–2025

NATIONAL ACADEMY OF ART
 
The Committee under the National Programme "Young Scientists and Postdoctoral Fellows – 2" approved with Rector's Order No 0258 – O, Sofia, 28 June 2024, held a meeting on 8 July 2024.
 
The following applications, which meet the requirements under the Programme and Professional Field 8.2. Art, have been reviewed:

The Committee members, after revewing the application documents, has ranked the candidates under Module "Young Scientists" and Module "Postdoctoral Fellows", as follows:

Grounds
The candidates' ranking is based on the number of points assigned according to the evaluation criteria, the financial resources under the Programme allocated to the National Academy of Art, and the decisions of the Committee formed to conduct the competition.
 
The decision of the Committee was adopted by the Academic Council of the National Academy of Art with Record No 11/19.07.2024.

NATIONAL PROGRAMME "YOUNG SCIENTISTS AND POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS 2"
 
(hereinafter referred to as "the Programme")
 
With regards to the implementation of the tasks under the National Programme "Young Scientists and Postdoctoral Fellows 2", the National Academy of Art as a programme beneficiary announces a competition procedure for recruiting candidates for participation in the Programme – Stage II 2024–2025.

Requirements for participation in the competition under:
 
MODULE YOUNG SCIENTISTS
 
Eligible candidates
 
"Young scientist" is an individual who is conducting scientific research, and scientific and educational activities at a higher education institution and/or a scientific organisation subsequent to obtaining a Master's degree, but not more than 10 years after obtaining the degree.
 
During their participation in the Programme, candidates must fit in the definition for young scientist. They must meet the minimum national requirements for the position they will hold in the professional field they are applying for, pursuant to provisions of the Law on Development of the Academic Staff in the Republic of Bulgaria and the relevant Implementing Regulation.
 
Potential candidates under this module can:
 
– be newly appointed, under the Programme, at the beneficiary organisation and who meet the requirement for being young scientists;
– hold the academic position of Assistant or Chief Assistant (having gained a minimum of 6-month work experience as of the date of application) and are employed under an employment contract at the beneficiary organisation;
– be doctoral students, who have completed their coursework and credits and have the right to defend their theses, and are employed under an employment contract at the beneficiary organisation;
– are doctoral students, part-time or self-study basis, enrolled at the beneficiary organisation at least six months prior to the date of application, and employed under an employment contract at the organisation;
– are specialists with higher education who meet the requirement of being young scientists and are employed at the beneficiary organisation under an employment contract.
 
Scientific products include the ones entered into the Web of Science and/or Scopus databases.
 
MODULE POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS
 
Eligible candidates
 
Candidates under this module can be scientists, who have obtained the educational and scientific degree (ESD) Doctor in Bulgaria or a foreign country. They must meet the minimum national requirements for obtaining the ESD Doctor in the professional field they are applying in.
 
During their participation in the Programme, candidates must fit in the definition for postdoctoral fellow: a scientist who has obtained a first ESD Doctor, but not more than five years subsequent to obtaining the degree.
Preference will be given to postdoctoral fellows who are external to the beneficiary organisation. In cases where the organisation from which they come is a higher education or scientific organisation in Bulgaria, it must agree to participate in the Programme, as well as make commitments to (i) allow the candidate to go on unpaid leave and maintain his/her payroll position and (ii) to use the freed-up financial resources to incentivise the young scientists.
 
It is allowed to appoint a postdoctoral fellow under a (additional) part-time employment contract at the same beneficiary organisation in which s/he is being employed.
 
Under this module, it is mandatory to apply by submitting to the beneficiary organisation a project proposal, which meets the following requirements: it must address current topic(s) and be at a high scientific level; a detailed work programme for the project implementation period, and a detailed financial plan, accompanied by justification. The proposal is to be submitted in the Bulgarian language and/or in the English language (applicable for foreign citizens).
 
Scientific products include the ones entered into the Web of Science and/or Scopus databases.
 
Deadline for implementation of the project proposal: up to 12 months with an option for extending, but not more than a total of 24 months within the Programme implementation period.
 
The documents submitted by the candidates for participation in the Programme under the two modules will be reviewed and ranked by a committee approved by order of the Rector of the National Academy of Art. The committee decisions shall be approved by the Scientific Council of the National Academy of Art.
 
DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME: until end of 2025
The Programme will be implemented within 18 months:
– Stage II, 18 months, 2024–2025.
 
Part of the funds under the relevant module will be used for both basic monthly remunerations of newly appointed young scientists/postdoctoral fellows and additional monthly remunerations of young scientists/postdoctoral fellows already appointed at the beneficiary organisation, in accordance with the tariff rates approved within the Programme (Rf. https://web.mon.bg/bg/101140).
 
Required application documents
– CV;
– Motivation letter (not longer than one page);
– Master's degree diploma (applicable for young scientists) or Doctoral degree diploma (applicable for postdoctoral fellows) in Professional Field 8.2. Art;
– List of publications and participations in national and/or international scientific and artistic forums for young scientists and/or for postdoctoral fellows, awards, etc. (if any);
– Project proposal (mandatory for postdoctoral fellows, advisable for young scientists), which meets the following requirements: must address a current topic and be at a high scientific level; a detailed work programme for the project implementation period and a detailed financial plan, accompanied by justification. The proposal is to be submitted in the Bulgarian language and/or in the English language (for foreign citizens).
 
It is possible to apply with scanned copies of the application documents, incl. application documents in English (applicable for candidates who have graduated from a foreign institution). The original documents, translated into Bulgarian, are required only of the winning candidates prior to signing their contracts.
