At the invitation of the China Academy of Art (CAA) in Hangzhou, Assoc. Prof. Nenko Atanasov, PhD, and Asst. Prof. Ivaylo Todorov, PhD, lecturers in the Department of Poster and Visual Communication, were representatives of the National Academy of Art at the World Youth Art Festival and the Grand Tour CAA Graduation Season (Graduate Student Exhibitions).
From 31 May to 3 June 2026, the two Bulgarian lecturers were involved in many events, including an official meeting with the hosts from CAA and the other delegates from various art academies, a visit to the China Design Museum, the studios and halls housing the exhibitions of graduates from the Department of Fiber Art, the Department of Public Art, the Department of Sculpture and the other departments, based in the Xiangshan Campus, as well as a boat trip on the West Lake, which is iconic for Hangzhou and the surrounding area.
A highlight of the visit was their attendance at the grand opening ceremony of the CAA Graduate Student Exhibitions, held at the Xiangshan Campus stadium. The impressive spectacle included official greetings from rectors and representatives of various higher education institutions, speeches by the CAA management body, the academic community members and international guests, 3D mapping, animation, multimedia, light show, a dance performance, and a fashion show of the graduates from the School of Fashion Design at CAA.
The 4-day creative visit of the two Bulgarian lecturers proved to be successful also due to the dedicated commitment of Prof. Assadour Markarov, PhD, who is a lecturer in the Department of Fiber Art at the China Academy of Art. With his energy and presence, Prof. Markarov ensured and assisted the overall logistics, for which the National Academy of Art, Assoc. Prof. Nenko Atanasov and Asst.
