On October 3, the Art Gallery – Stara Zagora opened an exhibition Resonances by the creative group Arena Art Wood created in 2023 by professors and alumni of the Department of Woodcarving at the National Academy of Art – Assoc. Prof. Robert Tsanev, Dr. Anton Georgiev, Iliya Vladimirov, Roman Sinapov, Yordan Yordanov, Tsvetina Geneva and Petar Mihaylov. The exhibition includes 34 works (small sculptures and reliefs) of wood, metal and stone, integrated into the space of the Great Hall of the gallery.

The leading idea in the group's current project refers to music and reveals how the art of sound can find its “resonance” in a contemporary plastic form. The artists' desire is to find the intersection between the two arts, emphasizing the main principles dominating them. Resonances, vibrations, tones, dynamics, texture and rhythm–these are just some of the many concepts that give expression to various creative experiments. In the exhibition, one can discover the individual creative approach of each of the participants and their idea of the artistic image of music. In some of the works, the impact is quite directly directed at the viewer, while in others it is abstract, indirectly recreating the rich nuances of the musical spectrum, which also determines the multi-layered view of the topic. In the exhibition, artists working in the field of metal small sculptures, professors and alumni of the Department of Metal at the National Academy of Art, as well as those working in stone sculpture, have been invited to join the main group of artists carvers. The presentation of works made of different materials–wood, metal and stone–in one exhibition is increasingly observed as a contemporary curatorial approach applied for this type of creative projects.
