The National Academy of Art will present an exhibition in Berlin on the occasion of Bulgarian Liberation Day
The National Academy of Art in Sofia and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin will jointly present an exhibition dedicated to the 3rd of March -- the National Holiday of the Republic of Bulgaria, the 125th anniversary of the Academy and the 60th anniversary of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin. The artistic event will showcase works by teachers from the National Academy of Art in Sofia, which is the oldest institution in the country for training professionals in the field of fine and applied arts, restoration and history and theory of art. The educational institution was established in 1896 and since then it has been an indispensable factor in the artistic life, and has been educating generations of Bulgarian artists.
The exhibition includes artworks by teachers of Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Ceramics, Glass, Woodcarving, Textiles, Metal and Photography. Apart from being teachers, these artists are among the most prominent names in contemporary Bulgarian art and present their educational institution with dignity.
On 1 March 2022, at 7:00pm, the exhibition will be opened by Prof. Georgi Iankov (Rector of the National Academy of Art), Mr. Borislav Petranov (Director of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin) and the curators of the exhibition Prof. D.Sc. Svilen Stefanov (Vice-Rector of the National Academy of Art) and Dr. Rossen Toshev. The event will take place under the patronage of Ms. Elena Shekerletova -- Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Federal Republic of Germany.
