Validation of postage stamp "100 Years Since the Birth of Artist Lyuben Zidarov"

The Bulgarian Ministry of Transport and Communications will launch a postage stamp with the theme "100 Years Since the Birth of Artist Lyuben Zidarov". The stamp is part of a postage package including minisheet, first day cover and special postage seal.
Assoc. Prof. Nenko Atanasov, PhD, teacher in the Department of Poster and Visual Communication at the National Academy of Art, is the graphic designer of the postage issue as he is the winner in the postage stamp contest held earlier.
The Bulgarian artist Lyuben Zidarov (1923–2023) graduated with a degree in painting from the Academy of Art, class of Prof. Iliya Petrov, in 1948. In the next three decades he worked mainly in the field of illustration. Zidarov has illustrated hundreds of books – the widely popular classical literary works for children and adults by foreign and Bulgarian authors, to name a few: Hans Christian Andersen's stories and fairy tales, One Thousand and One Nights (The Tales of Scheherazade), Treasure Island, Uncle Tom's Cabin, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Prince and the Pauper, Hoffmann's Tales, adventure novels by Jules Verne, Thomas Mayne Reid and Karl May, the tales of Nikolay Raynov and Angel Karaliychev, poetry for children by the Bulgarian authors Asen Raztsvetnikov, Leda Mileva, Asen Bosev and many other.
In 2022, Lyuben Zidarov was awarded the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the National Academy of Art at a ceremony held in Academia Gallery, where "Intercepts", his retrospective exhibition presented works in the field of painting, graphics, illustration, and applied textile art, created by the artist in the course of over 70 years.
