The year 2024 marks the 80th birth anniversary of Prof. Ivana Eneva (1944–2022), artist researcher in the field of ceramics, professor at the National Academy of Art, the first female vice rector of the National Academy of Art and the first female professor of ceramics in Bulgaria. In her works, she seeks a new modern imagery based on the exceptional integral properties of clay to connect with other materials – glass, metal, paper – with new permanent plastic and aesthetic characteristics. Notable are her ceramic sculptures and decorative-monumental ceramic panels with public themes.
 
Ivana Eneva was born on 29 August 1944 in the town of Pirdop (Bulgaria). In 1963, she graduated from the Vocational School of Ceramics and Glass, and in 1968 – from Nikolay Pavlovich Higher Institute of Fine Arts (at present National Academy of Art). In 1992, she obtained the title of associate professor, and in 2004, she was the competition winner for professorship in the Department of Ceramics at the National Academy of Art.
 
During her long artistic career, Prof. Ivana Eneva has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Bulgaria and around the world, among which the General Exhibitions of Applied Arts (1968, 1971, 1974), Traditional Exhibition of Ceramics (1973–1995), the anniversary exhibition 110 Years of National Academy of Art, Exhibition of the Artists from Izgrev Residential Area (2010–2022), Exhibition of teachers residents-in-art at the atelier of the National Academy of Art in Cité internationale des arts, Paris, and many others. She has been a participant and jury member in a number of national and international ceramics competitions. Prof. Eneva has authored numerous articles and publications in the Bulgarian and foreign press.
 
Works by Ivana Eneva are owned by Bulgarian and foreign art museums and galleries, and private collections in the USA, Italy, Croatia, France, Norway, Greece, Turkey, and others.
