Creative Meetings

Exhibition of teachers at the National Academy of Art in Sofia, the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź and the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk
Opening: 25 September 2025 (Thursday), 6:00 pm
25 September – 17 October 2025, Academia Gallery, 1 Shipka Street
The exhibition Creative Meetings is an international project aimed at creating sustainable connections between the Bulgarian and Polish academies through dialogue, exchange of artistic practices and cooperation in the field of art education. The exhibition presents a selection of works by teachers from the National Academy of Art in Sofia, the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź and the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.
The project was initiated by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw, and one of the priority areas of its activity is to support partnerships and exchange of ideas for better mutual understanding between Bulgaria and Poland. Its driving force is the Director of the institute, Dr. Peter Lyanguzov, who says:
The main idea is to “visit” the non-capital-city space by developing and supporting further creative contacts between the National Academy of Art in Sofia and related universities in other Polish cities... the next bridges of cooperation in the field of culture and spirituality between Bulgaria and Poland will be built.
The Sofia edition is the third stage of the project, which was launched in 2024 with a joint representative exhibition at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw. This first meeting brought together professors from the three academies, who laid the foundations for the future partnership. In June 2025, the exhibition was exhibited in the prestigious Kobro Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, affirming the artistic dialogue between Bulgarian and Polish artists in the exhibition Creative Meetings – Łódź.
The event at the Academia Gallery is a natural continuation of the active partnerships of the National Academy of Art with the Polish academies and aims to maintain the already established dialogue, as well as the future exchange of exhibitions, joint initiatives and student mobilities between the three art academies.
