Department Metal

Metal Department provides students with knowledge on the rich heritage accumulated in various areas of artistic metal, the properties of metals and the various possibilities offered by metal techniques and technolo-gies for creating just any work of art from miniature to monumental.
In Metal Department there are four specialized studios, where all BA students are trained in hot and cold metal processing, jewellery, medals, coin design, heraldry and design of metal works of art for specific architectural and landscape environment. In these studios tuition of students is done under the guidance of well-known experts and artists: Prof. Bogomil Nikolov – Medal Sculpture, Prof. Dimitar Delchev – Jewellery, Prof. Velislav Minekov – Metal Design, Prof. Ivan Slavov – Sculpture, Assoc. Prof. Emil Bachiyski – Metal Sculpture for a Specific Environment.
In the four years of study students are also taught drawing, modeling from nature, history of art, plastic anatomy, perspective, combining skills, architecture, nature of symbols and other related subjects.
Gradually, students acquire knowledge about basic concepts, subjects and tasks of composition as well as different methods and forms for conceptual design visualization, different techniques and technologies for completion in material.
MA curriculum incorporates three semesters and seven disciplines plus a preparatory period for diploma work.
