Headed by Prof. Liubomir Karaleev and
Prof. Svetozar Benchev
The National Academy of Art organized the first International Student Biennial “Drawing” with the participation of seven European universities and academies of fine arts, presenting their own collections: Academy of Fine Arts – Venice; Academy of Fine Arts – Zagreb; National University of Arts – Bucharest; Faculty of Fine Arts at the University “Aristotle” – Thessaloniki; University of the Arts – Belgrade; University of Fine Arts “Mimar Sinan” – Istanbul and the hosts, National Academy of Art – Sofia. An international jury selected the winners of awards that were presented at the opening. This biennial once again confirmed the special place of drawing in art, and the fact that at the Academy, besides on the academic drawing, stronger emphasis is placed on the free original painting as a form of self-expression.
