Digital Arts MA

Digital Arts Master Program is experimental, laboratory-oriented, corresponding to the interest in digital media as an independent means of expression, leading to the creation of art production. The program aims to introduce students to a wide range of digital art forms, to their conventions, language and aesthetics, technical and theoretical background and historical evolution. It provides students with specialized knowledge and skills in expressing artistic ideas using digital media. The program looks at digital art as an independent art practice, although the material studied is widely applied in today's media based society.
The program is implemented through:
– developing critical and creative thinking on social and cultural discourse of digital arts;
– researching multidisciplinary areas in which interactivity and communication are presented through digital and electronic technologies;
– experimenting with digital technology as a form of artistic expression;
– familiarity with certain media to create active dialogue between the physical and virtual in the process of creating new hybrid art forms.
The program provides knowledge and skills in the field of digital video and animation, interactive performance and installation, net art. Free choice will be given of various additional courses as motion capture, gaming, sound art, machinima, etc.
In the first year these objectives are achieved through lectures, intensive practical courses, short-term projects, discussions, guest lecturers and workshops. Students have available equipment, with which on a professional level they develop their individual and team work. Different artists and their artistic practices are examined. Wide range of techniques and media is mastered.
In the second year, students specialize in their interests and skills and work on their graduation project. They plan and develop their thesis in cooperation with a leading lecturer and present the result of the creative process at the end of the fourth semester.
