Exhibition НАЧАЛОТО // LE DÉBUT | Multimedia exhibition CHINARI (Plane Trees) | Shipka Fest 2025

Academia Gallery at the National Academy of Art is hosting some of the events within the programme of the Seventh Edition of the Shipka Fest organised by the Open Intellect – OPEN MIND Foundation.
 
The festival's seventh edition will start with the opening of the photo exhibition Началото // Le Début by Aleksandar Ivanov, which will present the history of the Kazanlak Forestation Bureau through the unique friendship of its founder Felix Vogeli and the champion of the Macedonia liberation Petar Mandzhukov. Through a rich collection of documents, letters and photographs, the exhibition will show how Vogeli turned Mandzhukov into one of the greatest foresters in Bulgaria. A luxurious photo album including the complete, previously not published memories of Mandzhukov accompanies the exposition.
 
On 6 September, screening of the documentary film "Life is a Parable" dedicated to the teachings and life of Petar Danov, will take place at 10:30 am. The multimedia exhibition Chinari (Plane Trees) by Linda Barbara Karl Vátsulka-Stoycheva will be presented at 12:00 pm. From 1:00 pm to 6:15 pm, a set of lectures dedicated to the health of man and the planet  will be delivered by Vesselin Spassov, Petya Ivanova, Nadezhda Maksimova, and Nikola Dimov.
 
A demonstration of the craft of basketry will be made by Maya Yancheva, student in the Department of Textile – Art and Design at the National Academy of Art, who has participant in the training course of master Stanko Kirov and Prof. Verzhiniya Markarova, PhD, Head of the Department of Textile – Art and Design. The course results will also be presented during the festival.
 
The project is implemented with the financial support of the National Culture Fund – 2024 Festivals Programme.
