"My Thesis in 180 Seconds" Competition

The Francophone University Agency (AUF -- Agence universitaire de la Francophonie), in partnership with the French Institute in Bulgaria (Institut Français de Bulgarie) and BIC Bulgaria, is the organiser of the fourth edition of the competition "My Thesis in 180 Seconds". The purpose of this competition is to enable Francophone current PhD students or students who defended their doctoral thesis during the past academic year to present to a diverse audience of non-specialists the topic of their research. Each participant should, within three minutes, make a clear, concise and at the same time convincing and attractive presentation in French of the problems they are working on. "My Thesis in 180 Seconds" provides participants with a unique opportunity to improve their communication skills while introducing their research to a wider audience. It is both a means of presenting and promoting science and the doctoral form of education. It is also a way to get acquainted with Bulgarian scientific products, as well as to strengthen contacts and exchanges between the scientific community and society.
"My Thesis in 180 Seconds" was inspired by the Three Minute Thesis (3MT MC) competition, which was first organised in 2008 at the University of Queensland, Australia. In 2012, it entered the Francophone space, and has already had editions in more than twenty countries.
The winner in the national final on 8 June will participate in the regional selection and we hope to represent Bulgaria at the international final, which will be held this autumn in Montreal, Canada. A specialised workshop on communication in science will be organised by Francophone specialists for all participants in the national final.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place, as well as an audience award.
Application submissions: 1 March -- 30 April 2022
