Exhibition "20 Years of FASHION" at Burgas Branch, National Academy of Art

The exhibition dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Department of Fashion at the National Academy of Art is on view from 10 March to 10 April 2022 in Atelier Gallery, National Academy of Art -- Burgas Branch. The students' projects were realised in the past years. The accompanying catalogue is informative of the main disciplines taught, leading lecturers, and graduates from the department.

 

In 1999, the first students for training in the newly introduced academic speciality Fashion were admitted to the National Academy of Art, the oldest school of arts in Bulgaria. A department was formed for designers and artists to further develop and pass on their professional knowledge, to share their success and experience. Underlying for the philosophy of developing designer thinking in students is building a flexible system allowing for continuous updates of the educational programme with the focus on creating an unusual, innovative product of fashion design. The roots of training in Fashion are the academic traditions in combination with modern views and development of visual arts, mediums and design. Building a fundamental connection between art and fashion, which is based on creativity and practical thinking, alongside assistance, guidance and mentoring by teachers at the department, students sucessfully develop their individual talent and gifts.

 

Proof of the department's competitiveness are the teachers' and students' participation in exhibitions, conferences and symposiums; the numerous awards from international competitions, and the alumni who have created successful fashion brands.
