On 11 January 2026, the exhibition Towards the Source was opened at Gallery U P.A.R.K in Plovdiv, presenting works created during a workshop on exploring the egg tempera technique and its application in contemporary painting. This is the third edition of the project, which is being conducted under the leadership and mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanassov, PhD, Head of the Department of Drawing.
Project participants are students from the National Academy of Art in Sofia and the National Academy of Art – Burgas Branch: Adriana Vazharova, Alper Idzhabiev, Aleksandra Nikolova, Andrey Vazharov, Atanas Atanassov, Atanas Hristov, Bilyana Tomova, Violeta Kopanova, Dimitar Denkov, Emanuela Kovach, Vanya Stanilova, Izabel Slavcheva, Kalina Ivanova, Kostadin Radichev, Mina Balabanova, Rossana Georgieva, Simona Vassileva, Stanimir Genov.
The project aims to revive the egg tempera technique by applying it in the creation of contemporary artworks.
The project “Towards the Source” is implemented within the framework of the 2025 Competition for Funding Projects on the Scientific Research and Artistic Activities at the National Academy of Art.
