17 May 2024, 5:00 pm, Academia Gallery
National Academy of Art, 1 Shipka Street, Sofia

The publication will be presented by Prof. DSc. Peter Tsanev.

Nikolay Marinov Dinev's book addresses the world of child artists who have become visible to our culture through the prism of modern art and aesthetics. The paradigm of modernism succeeded in delineating a new conceptual territory of interaction between the idea of individual freedom of the child's personality and the creative instincts for figural exploration and stylistic experimentation.

Artists know that those whom we consider "gifted" regarding drawing are not just more advanced than others, but draw in a qualitatively different way. Artistically gifted children are known to possess superior visual memory and encode visual information in a specific way with an emphasis on shapes and visual features, and to pay more attention to the pictorial process itself and the accompanying opportunities for discovery and variability.

The book "Fine Art and Children's Creativity" was published as a result of the Open Competition for Scientific and Artistic Creative Activity of the National Academy of Art.
