Presentation of the book "The Visual Language of Rumen Skorchev" at Academia Gallery, National Academy of Art

On 23 March 2023 (Thurs), 5:00 pm, Academиа Gallery, the Department of Art Studies at the National Academy of Art will present the book "The Visual Language of Rumen Skorchev". The event is related to the exhibition "90 years since the Birth of Rumen Skorchev", which was presented at the National Academy of Art from 20 September to 7 October 2022.
 
The monograph author is Ch. Asst. Prof. Suzana Nikolova, PhD, curator of Skorchev's exhibitions at the National Gallery in 2002 and 2015, and of a travelling exhibition presented round Bulgaria in the art galleries in Pleven, Varna, Targovishte, Shumen, Pazardzhik, Stara Zagova, Sliven, Dobrich.
 
The publication explores the visual language of Prof. Skorchev – one of the great artists in contemporary Bulgarian art from the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. The monograph presents all areas of his work – printmaking, illustration, drawing, painting.
 
In 2020, Ch. Asst. Prof. Suzana Nikolova, PhD, defended a dissertation at the Department of Art Studies, National Academy of Art, which explores the artist's work. The monograph emphasises the place and importance of Prof. Skorchev as an artist, teacher and head of the Department of Illustration, Book, Printed Graphics at the National Academy of Art.
 
The publication "The Visual Language of Rumen Skorchev" was realised with the financial support of the National Endowment Fund “13 Centuries Bulgaria”, "Stovi I" EOOD and under the Programme for the Scientific and Artistic Activities of the National Academy of Art for Year 2022.
