Launching of print publication "Women Artists. New Horizons Between the Two World Wars"

The catalogue is a project result of the combined efforts of two large and important cultural institutions – National Academy of Art and Sofia City Art Gallery, in collaboration with Archives State Agency . Owing to their expert, scientific and technological capacity, the project manages to again raise the question about the professional realisation of women in the field of art in the 1920s and 1930s, a matter of special relevance today. The catalogue's scope and essence also have the potential to additionally contribute to the thorough study of Modernity in Bulgaria, and of women artists' role.
"Women Artists. New Horizons Between the Two World Wars" has rich content of organically related and diverse types of materials – biographical data on female artists, research texts, detailed bibliography, chronology of events objectifying women's activity in the field of visual arts. The album part presents not only the works shown in the exhibition, but also other that are owned by galleries in the country, part of art collections, and private possessions.
The project has been implemented with the assistance of St Pimen Zografski – National Academy of Art Foundation, with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture, Sofia Municipality, National Culture Fund (Programme for the Recovery and Development of Private and Cultural Organisations), Sofia City Art Gallery, Programme for the Scientific and Artistic-creatice Activities at the National Academy of Art for Year 2021 & 2022, Aurubis Bulgaria JSC, and of individuals.
