On 4 November (Tuesday), at 10:30 am, in Hall 002 in the New Academic Building of the National Academy of Art, 1 Shipka Street, Lenka Tyrpeklova, a lecturer at the Institute of Art and Design, Prague, will deliver a lecture on the topic "(Re)Construction of (Un)Freedom". Tyrpeklova is carrying out her Erasmus+ teaching mobility at the National Academy of Art.
Tyrpeklova about herself:
In my artistic practice, I have long been paying attention to the weaknesses and dysfunctions of the prison system, exploring the broader social causes and consequences of punishment. I began my first artistic research in prisons in 2017 and have since developed socially critical and activist artistic research that connects artistic practice, education and inclusion.
As part of this project, I conduct art education programmes directly in prison environments, which encourage creativity, self-reflection and dialogue. Through this work, I seek to develop not only the individual potential of the participants, but also a broader critical discussion about how society understands freedom, responsibility and rehabilitation.
The results of this research take the form of installations, performances and exhibitions that combine documentary and fictional elements, exploring the boundaries between reality, representation and the ethics of viewing.
My current research at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, entitled “(Re)Construction of (Un)Freedom”, aims to rethink what freedom means to us – personally, institutionally and socially.
