50 YEARS OF CONSERVARION-RESTORATION AT THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF ART
27–29 April 2023, Atelier 30, 73 Tsarigradsko shosse Blvd, Sofia
The scientific conference is held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Restoration at the National Academy of Art. The Department of Conservation-Restoration at the National Academy of Art offers the only accredited programme in restoration of cultural assets in Bulgaria. The programme is fully compliant with the European requirements for education in this specific scientific and creative discipline, and offers a five-year full-time course of study, at the completion of which graduates obtain a Master's degree.
Scientific reports addressing issues of restoration of various types of cultural assets: paintings, icons, murals, mosaics, archaeological finds, works of paper, photography and books, will be presented at the conference. Some of the reports concern issues of architectural heritage preservation, and two of the sessions are devoted to scientific research and interdisciplinary projects.
Participants are teachers from the Department of Conservation-Restoration, specialists from museums, galleries and scientific institutes, as well as colleagues from restoration centres in Denmark.
Assoc. Prof. Stefan Belishki, PhD, Head of the Department of Conservation-Restoration, will present in his introductory report the history and development of the programme at the National Academy of Art.
