The National Academy of Art is presenting the results of a project on development and free distribution of authorship fonts.

The National Academy of Art is the founder of the Bulgarian typography school and in this capacity is called upon to preserve, uphold and promote high artistic and aesthetic values in the field of typography. This mission is realised not only through the educational activities at the institution, but also through creation and public presentation of artistic products by the professors engaged in the development of this professional and cultural tradition.
On 8 January, at Academia Gallery, will be presented the concept, process and results of the Shared Fonts project implemented by Assoc. Prof. Svetlin Balezdrov, PhD, in collaboration with Prof. Christina Borissova, PhD – both teaching at the National Academy of Art – whose creative and professional pursuits are aimed at achieving and promoting high artistic and aesthetic standards in the field of typogrtaphy art. Prof. Christina Borissova is the founder and leader of the Master's degree programme in Calligraphy and a lecturer in the Department of Poster and Visual Communication. Assoc. Prof. Svetlin Balezdrov is a lecturer in the Department of Design in Advertising and co-founder of the digital platform for Bulgarian typography npoekmu.me.
During the presentation event, the audience will be acquainted for the first time with 2 free downloadable fonts developed and provided free of charge by the two artists, and a new online platform created specifically for the purposes of the Shared Fonts project. The target focus is the digitisation and free distribution of authorship fonts. Providing those fonts for free will insure access to quality font developments, typographic resources and ideas for a wide range of users–students, designers, researchers and everyone interested in contemporary typography and related creative practices.
