Exhibition on the occasion of the 70th birth anniversary of the artist Stoyko Sakaliev

Stoyko Sakaliev (b. 21 September 1956, Burgas, Bulgaria)
In 1985, Stoyko Sakaliev graduated from the Arts Academy in Sofia with a degree in Poster Design, under Professor Alexander Poplilov.
 
From 1985 to the present  day, he has participated in all the national exhibitions, biennials and triennials of applied graphics and stage posters. Internationally, his political, advertising and stage posters have been presented in Russia, Germany, Belgium, France, Poland, Slovakia, Japan, Mexico, Finland, the USA, Ukraine and others. He presented solo exhibitions of stage posters in Sofia (1989), Burgas (1996 and 2006, when he donated the entire exhibition to Petko Zadgorski Art Gallery (Bulgaria) on the occasion of his 50th birth anniversary, 2012, and in 2021 for his 65th birth anniversary and 35 years of creative activity), at the Apollonia Arts Festival in Sozopol (2016), Philadelphia, USA (2007) at the invitation of the Kelly Writers House Center for Conceptual Arts at UPenn University (Pennsylvania), dedicated to 24 May – the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, to the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture, and to the Slavic literature. 
 
Stoyko Sakaliev is a member of the Society of Burgas Artists since 1985 and a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists since 1991, Graphic Desig Section. In the period from 1985 to 2025, he was part of the staff of the Adriana Budevska Drama Theatre in Burgas as a poster artist and designer of the theatre's advertising production. He is the holder of the title of Artist of the Year – Burgas (2012), awarded with a plaquette and prize of Burgas Municipality and the Society of Burgas Artists for his overall creative work, highly artistic works in the field of fine arts, and contribution to the cultural life of the city, as well as the distinction "Burg of the Year" (2021) for exceptional services to the city of Burgas. The artist works actively in the fields of graphic arts and painting, and participates in a number of local, national and international art forums.
