1–31 August 2022
(thirteenth edition)
The Summer Academy for Children and School Students is a cultural and educational project of the National Academy of Art and St. Pimen Zografski–National Academy of Art Foundation, which has established itself over the years as a long-awaited event for young artists.
Throughout August, the ateliers at the Academy in Sofia will again be full of colour and creative emotion. Children from different age groups (from 6 to 10 & from 11 to 18) will work with bachelor, master and doctoral students, pursuing different academic speciality programmes and having completed a second academic speciality programme "Theory and Practice of Art Education", from the National Academy of Art.
The project activities will create opportunities for acquiring basic knowledge and skills in the following areas:
Academic – drawing by nature;
Creative – workshops in fine and applied arts;
Experimental – teamwork assignments, workshop programme with established artists, creative games;
Plein air, visits to museums and galleries, a happening.
During the Summer Academy there will be creative workshops in painting, graphics, ceramics, mosaic, icon, puppets, calligraphy, comic strip, design, computer graphics for older school students, and many more. It is also planned to conduct cctivities in city parks and urban spaces, galleries, and museums.
In 2022, the programme is dedicated to the 140th anniversary since the birth of Vladimir Dimitrov – The Master.
For the first year we will organise a module for the senior group – 14–18 years of age.
Traditionally in the last days of August, an exhibition including the best works created during the project implementation will be presented in Academia Gallery.
