The Mayor of Municipality of Tsarevo, Marin Kirov, received the Honorary Badge of the Rector of the National Academy of Art

On 30 October 2026, in the Atelier Gallery of the National Academy of Art – Burgas Branch, the Mayor of Tsarevo Municipality, Marin Kirov, received the Rector’s Honorary Badge and a certificate of honour. The distinction was presented by the Rector of the Academy, Prof. Georgi Iankov, in the presence of students, faculty, and staff at the Burgas Branch of the Academy.
The award is a recognition of Marin Kirov’s exceptional contribution to the visual arts and higher art education, as well as his role in creating opportunities for the Academy’s students, supporting the Academy's Creative Base in the town of Ahtopol, and enhancing the visual environment and cultural development of the Municipality of Tsarevo.
This academic distinction was established by the National Academy of Art to mark the 130th anniversary of the Academy, founded in 1896 as State School of Drawing. The Rector, Prof. Georgi Iankov, awards it to prominent public figures, patrons, and benefactors as a token of appreciation for their significant contributions to the development of visual arts, Bulgarian culture, higher education, and the prestige of the National Academy of Art.
The honorary badge design and creation are the result of the joint efforts of a creative team comprising the faculty members Prof. Nikolay Mladenov, PhD, and Assoc. Prof. Georgi Pavlov, PhD, from the Department of Poster and Visual Communication, and Ch. Asst. Prof. Ventsislav Shishkov, PhD, from the Department of Metal.
