Visit of a delegation of officials from the China Academy of Art (CAA) to the National Academy of Art

From 4 to 6 September 2023, the National Academy of Art hosted a delegation of officials from the China Academy of Art (CAA) in Hangzhou, China. The top-level delegation comprised Prof. Yibin Jin, Secretary of the CAA Party Committee, Min Zhuo, Director of International Department, Zhiguo Feng, Director of Personnel Department, Zhaohui Cheng, Vice Dean, School of Design and Innovation, Xiaolei Pan, Deputy Dean of the School of Animation and Game, and Assoc. Prof. Asadur Markarov, teacher at the Department of Textile Art, School of Sculpture and Public art, CAA, who taught at the Department of Textiles of the National Academy of Art in the period 1995–2015.

The CAA representatives were welcomed to the Academic Council hall at the National Academy of Art, 1 Shipka St., by the Rector of the Academy Prof. Georgi Iankov, the Vice-Rectors Prof. D.Sc. Svilen Stefanov and Prof. Nikolay Mladenov PhD, the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Svetozar Benchev, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts and Design Prof. Arsen Minkov PhD, the Head of the Department of Education and Methodology Ms. Svilena Mateeva-Chelebiyska, Ms. Marina Ruskova from the International Department, and Assoc. Prof. Vasil Kolev PhD, teacher in the Department of Printmaking.

At the official meeting, the officials from both institutions discussed important issues regarding the expansion of cooperation between the two academies, the exchange of students – bachelors, masters and doctoral students, joint exhibition and cultural projects and initiatives, as well as the presenting of the National Academy of Art to the Chinese students.
 
During their stay in Bulgaria, the guests from China visited the cities of Plovdiv, Burgas and Nessebar. They toured the ateliers in the buildings of the National Academy of Art at 1 Shipka St., 73 Tsarigradsko shosse Blvd., and 100 G. M. Dimitrov Blvd in Sofia. They also visited the Printmaking Base of the Academy located in the building of the Regional Library Burgas and the Burgas Branch of the Academy, where the Director of the Branch Assoc. Prof. Dimo Kolibarov showed them around the ateliers and introduced them to its history and significance for the cultural life in Burgas and the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast.
